BMC was established in Izmir, Turkey in 1964 as a partnership with the British Motor Corporation and originally built the Austin and Morris commercial vehicle range. The company was acquired by the Cukurova Group in 1989, a Banking and Financial Services conglomerate with roots in textiles and machinery.
